Best Western Wallin Hotel now has four stars (October 2004)
At the Sweden Hotel and Restaurant Associations´s (SHR) latest classification Best Western Wallin Hotel was promoted from three to four stars, according to the SHR standard. Hotel in Stockholm on International Hot List (May 2004)
The Rival Hotel in Stockholm has alreadey won praise from Vogue and Business Traveller magazines. Now Condé Nast Traveller has declared it one of the world´s best places to stay, including it in their prestigious "Hot List" of the world´s coolest new hotels.
The May issue of the British luxury travel magazine lists 50 hotels around the globe that "share a singular sense of style and place that sets them apart from even the best of the rest". The Rival is the only Swedish hotel on the list.

Stockholm is one of the world´s leading gastronomic destinations. Home to a very lively dining scene, the city´s cuisine has become ever more multi-facetted in recent years. Restaurants that serve traditional Swedish fare flourish together with internationally renowned, cutting-edge cuisine.
In this year’s edition of Guide Michelin, two new Stockholm restaurants, Lux and Mistral, have been awarded a star each. Both restaurants opened in 2003 and have thus managed the feat of becoming a member of an exclusive group of star-studded Stockholm restaurants in record time. Apart from Lux and Mistral, the group comprises Edsbacka Krog, which has two stars, and Operakällaren, Bon Lloc, F12 and Wedholms Fisk, who have a star each, so there are now seven restaurants gracing the Michelin skies.
Stockholm Arlanda Airport expand services again - 23 new routes (March 2004)Stockholm-Arlanda Airport will add 23 new routes when the summer timetable goes into effect on March 28. In addition, many airlines will expand services on existing routes.
Edinburgh (United Kingdom), Split (Croatia), Inverness (UK), Venice (Italy), Ibiza (Spain) and Cologne (Germany) are only a few of the destinations that will be reachable by scheduled non-stop service from Arlanda.
Scandinavian Airlines is starting new services to five European destinations: Dusseldorf (Germany), Dublin (Ireland), Edinburgh, Manchester (UK) and Prague (Czech Republic), all with daily flights. Its service to New York is being expanded from four departures a weekly to one daily departure.
Alitalia is opening two new routes from Stockholm to Rome and Milan (Italy), both with daily service. Skyway will begin service to Birmingham (UK) with two daily departures, and TAP Air Portugal will fly non-stop to Lisbon three days a week, instead of stopping over in Copenhagen (Denmark) along the way, which speeds up the flying time. Air China is expanding its service to Beijing from three to four departures per week.

Read the whole article here »European Project on the future Internet led from Stockholm (February 2004)A Stockholm-based research institute, the Swedish Institute of Computer Science, SICS, is leading the European Evergrow project, which should result in a new Internet in 2025, reports Computer Sweden. The purpose of the project is to find methods and systems that can help see the problems and opportunities offered by global, scale-free, information networks.
Researchers from 27 universities in Europe, Israel and Egypt are taking part in the project. It includes developing two large programs for measuring Europe´s network topology and network traffic with extremely high resolution in time and space. The EU is providing the finance for a four-year period.
SICS, is an independent non-profit research organisation in Kista Science City in north-west Stockholm. It has 90 highly-qualified researchers in a wide range of fields, including future Internet technologies, large-scale network-based applications, and human-machine interaction.
