The European Federation of Neurological Societies, EFNS, has recently decided that Stockholm will play host to Europe’s largest neurological congress in 2012. The congress is held annually in various European cities.
This is the first time that such a large neurological congress has been held in Sweden,” says Magnus Andersson, Chairman of the Swedish Neurological Society. “The main reason for holding the congress here in Stockholm is to promote Sweden’s excellent neurological healthcare and the high-profile neuroscientific research being carried out here.”
The Swedish Neurological Society has been working with Stockholm Visitors Board for two years to bring the congress to Stockholm.
“I’m delighted that Stockholm has been chosen as the future venue for yet another prestigious congress,” says Peter Lindqvist, Director of Stockholm Visitors Board’s Conventions & Meetings business area. “This is highly significant in terms of marketing Stockholm as a meeting place, and makes us a more attractive choice for other international congresses.”
The neurological congress will be held at Stockholm International Fairs in 2012, with around 5,000 attendees from all over the world. It has been estimated that the congress will bring in approximately SEK 70 million in export income.
