Millesgården could be called a work of art in its own right, and includes sculptor Carl Milles’ home and studios with originals and replicas of his work. There is a magnificently designed garden of terraces, fountains, stairways, columns and sculptures with a diversity of vegetation and a fine view over the water of the rocky heights of Lidingö. The main building on the upper terrace was Carl and Olga Milles’ home and studios during the 1910s and ‘20s.
The couple’s tastes and temperaments are expressed in the interior design and their art collection. Temporary exhibitions of contemporary artists are shown in the new gallery on the lower terrace.
