Sigtuna is a lively and picturesque little town of around 6,500 inhabitants, situated 42 km (26 miles) north of Stockholm.
Founded in 980, it is the oldest existing town in Sweden and the place where the first coins were minted. Much of the original town plan remains to this day. Visit the medieval brick church or one of the church ruins, Sigtuna Museum with artifacts from the Viking era, the smallest town hall in the country or walk along
the main street, Stora Gatan, with its charming
shops, boutiques and cafés.
The cosy Auntie Brown´s Café (Tant Bruns kaffestuga) offers tea and coffee in a warm and charming 17th-century setting.
