At first it was a leafy garden; hence the name Gröna Lund ("green grove"). In the eighteenth century, it was a pub numbering Carl Michael Bellman among its regular guests. Since 1883, it has been an amusement park.
Gröna Lund is as pretty and as unusual as its name would imply. Situated on the island of Djurgården, the park´s reflection glitters on the waters of the Baltic at the gateway to Stockholm. Put into Gröna Lund´s guest harbour in your own boat or take one of the larger boats that stop at the park´s seaside entrance. Gröna Lund is one of Sweden´s most popular attractions.
From free-fall to open-air concerts
The appeal of Gröna Lund is obvious: the Jetline roller coaster, the Power Tower, Fritt Fall with an 80-metre free-fall at 100 km/h, Extreme, and classics such as the funhouse, and the spookhouse. Adults and those with an interest in calmer pursuits will also enjoy Gröna Lund. A wide variety of concerts featuring both Swedish and international artists are held on the park´s soundstages. Eight restaurants and 25 attractions ranging from tranquil to terrifying all come together at what may be the world´s prettiest amusement park.
